Tactile suit invented to hear through the skin

The company Not Impossible Labs introduced a tactile suit that allows a person to hear sounds in a new way, through vibration.

The technology uses our body's reactions toa somatosensory system consisting of at least 12 known receptors. Essentially, the suit can transmit ambient sounds, music or speech to the brain through vibrations. Instead of the ears, various nervous reactions of the body are used to deliver signals to the brain.

Similar technologies can be found in smartphones and some virtual reality systems.

InitiallyNIL engineers created a suit for the deaf andhard of hearing people to help them better perceive ambient sounds. However, according to the team, development can find application in various fields, for example, to get more vivid impressions of virtual reality or a concert.

To expand the range of sensations will also help the newly invented portable device, which, when in contact with the tongue, can recreate any taste sensations associated with food.
