In South Korea, blockchain will be used to stimulate medical tourism

A public-private consortium in the South Korean city of Busan has announced plans to create a platform onblockchain base to stimulate medical tourism.

The consortium includes a hospitalBusan National University, Dong-A University Hospital, Koshchin University Gospel Hospital, Samyuk Hospital and Knet Co. payment broker Local publication Gyeongnam Ilbo reports that the initiative was proposed by Busan Bank. The blockchain-based platform is expected to facilitate and make medical tourism more popular in South Korea’s second most populated city. However, the timing of the launch of the platform is still unknown.

As part of this initiative, it will be launchedthe mobile application for smartphones “Regional mobile platform for medical tourism”, through which Busan Bank intends to conduct transactions related to tourism. This is especially true for tourists looking for plastic surgery and cosmetology services. Using the application, a currency exchange will be made and a bank account opening service will be provided. In addition, using the application, the client will be able to contact the medical institutions of the city.

“Busan Bank will actively cooperate withlocal companies to make the city the best destination for medical tourism in Korea. We will play a role in restoring medical tourism in the region, ”said bank top manager Bin Dae-in.

To recap, South Korean insurance giant KB Insurance recently announced its collaboration with telecommunications firm KT Corp to implement blockchain in its mobile notification system for customers.
