The British defense company BAE Systems has announced that it is conducting wind tunnel testing of a Tempest stealth jet with a variety of advanced weapon systems.
The sixth-generation twin-engine fighter will be able to carry hypersonic missiles and laser weapons powered byIn addition to improved stealth technology and super maneuverability, it will beequipped with a reconfigurable AI system and advanced cyber communications that allow it tocontrol swarms of drones no worse than a flight control center.
As the Tempest is in the early stages of development, BAE Systems will be able to conduct aerodynamic tests during the next aerodynamic testUse a 3D printed model of the aircraft and digital simulations.
Production of the first fully functionalThe sixth generation fighters are due to start in 2035 to replace the current F-35 Lightning II and Typhoon fleets, which will be retired in the 2040s. Rolls-Royce, Leonardo and MBDA are also involved in the development of the aircraft.
Earlier in August, the US Air Force also unveiled a prototype of the new B-21 stealth bomber.
