Arthur Hayes leaves the post of CEO of BitMEX after accusations by the US Department of Justice

The marketplace announced a change in leadership following the start of the litigation and the arrest of itstechnical director.

BitMEX Announces Management Changes100x Group, the holding group of HDR Global Trading Limited, its owner and operator. Arthur Hayes is leaving the post of CEO of the trading floor, Samuel Reed is the technical director, the co-founder of Ben Delo company is also leaving the company. Business Development Manager Greg Dwyer is taking a vacation.

Position of interim CEOwill take Vivienne Khu. She is the Chief Operating Officer of 100x Group, previously led Goldman Sachs' Asia Pacific Legal Compliance and worked for the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission.

In early October, the owners of the second largesttrades of the crypto derivatives exchange BitMEX, including its founder Arthur Hayes, were under investigation. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) accuses them of maintaining an unregistered trading platform and violating CFTC rules, including anti-money laundering and customer identification.

Also, the US Department of Justice accused Hayes, Reed, Delo andDwyer in violation of the Bank Secrecy Act. The department emphasized that Reed, who holds the position of CTO of the exchange, was arrested. He will appear before federal court in Massachusetts.
