Number of open positions (open interest, OI) bitcoin options broke the $ 1.5 billion mark.
In the chart below, you can see that in June, the OI renewed its all-time high, largely due to increased activity on the regulated exchange CME:
According to The Block, over the past month, open interest on CME has grown by $ 150 million.
In this segment of the market, the Deribit exchange continues to lead. It accounts for 77% of the aggregated OI.
Compared to April, the total BTC options trading volume increased by more than 100% in May.
Unlike options, in the futures market the situation is still more or less stable. According to the latest CFTC report, open interest on CME is 8,824 contracts (up from 8,722 on May 26).
As before, large players keep mostly short positions, while small market participants sit long.
Recall that at the end of May, OI on the Deribit exchange reached $ 1 billion for the first time in history.
