Anatoly Aksakov: The digital ruble will enter the international arena in 2025

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets Anatoly Aksakov claims that the digital ruble may gain recognition outside Russia in two years.

“We are now testing the digital ruble.I think that testing will continue for about one year: several months of this year and next year. Accordingly, in 2025, I am sure that the digital ruble will enter the international arena,” said a senior parliamentarian.

Aksakov assures that the digital ruble can be used in mutual settlements with Latin American countries. 

“We are ready to share our experience inusing blockchain, with our own developments, so that your central banks and your companies can make wider use of this new channel for the circulation of digital financial assets,” the deputy addressed foreigners.

Previously, Aksakov stated that the banking systemThe country will face a gradual decline as the digital ruble is introduced. However, banks will be able to find a use for themselves as part of the infrastructure for digital financial assets. 

According to a survey by the media holding Rambler&Co,slightly less than half of Russians do not plan to use the digital ruble. More than half of the respondents - 53% - do not understand how the state digital currency system works.
